Opinions are like arseholes - everyone has one
Yes, it's true, even I can be relied upon to have an opinion. But, sometimes it's best to keep it to yourself, this I have learnt over time.
So how come everyone has an opinion? I guess it's just human nature to pass judgement and to exercise their right to tell you what to do, when to do it and how.
Unsolicited opinions are the worst, conversations that go "I'm stuck I can't decide to do X or Y" with the response "I think you should do Y because blah-blah read some where blah-blah" - the very worst.
By all means listen to other people's opinions but be aware (I am very cynical) that people have many reasons for the opinions they give and the most important reasons are often the ones they never mention, and never will either.
Sometimes it's good to get others opinions of things. When I have a difficult problem to solve I try to invent several potential solutions and then I'll ask for opinions on my plans. Sometimes the people I ask invent new solutions that I hadn't thought of and sometimes they derive a new solution based on one of my potential solutions.
I'd love to hear your opinion on this, why not email me;-)
